Brighton High School
Biology and Chemistry teacher 99-2004
Message from the Principal Tom Sherwood:
It is amazing to me that Brighton High is getting ready to send off its 50th graduating class. I feel very inadequate to express the impact that Brighton High has had in the lives of thousands of young men and women over the past 50 years in this amazing community. In that time we have graduated over 25,000 students who have all gone on to make their mark on the world. Some of our graduates have gone on to be captains of industry, CEOs of major corporations, and experts in their field. Others have remained in this community and have seen two or even three generations of students attend Brighton’s circled halls.
Regardless of what students have gone on to do after leaving, I know that their experience here has impacted their lives in some way, and I know that by and large most people remember their time at Brighton High very fondly. I know that as a teacher here, I thoroughly enjoyed teaching students from this community and I grew to love this little slice of the valley up on the hill. Now after only two years as the principal, it was easy for me to be reminded of what makes this a great school. The faculty here has always been second to none. Teachers at Brighton hold their students to high standards but also care about them as individuals. Brighton has been the school that outsiders find easy to hate because of their athletic and academic successes. However, once you become part of the Bengal family it is easy to see why this school is loved and how great it is to be part of an institution with a 50 year tradition of excellence.
